SPINNING
Maria came to Vale de Gatos to spin for a day.
She spun the wool of our Campaniças by means of a spindle, feeling its texture and the tension of fibres, watching the yarn taking shape softly and gently as the spindle went round and round, listening to silence and those who have learnt to listen to themselves.
Spinning carries that magic, for the one doing it as much as for the onlooker, a kind of magic made up of wonder, with the sunlight illuminating the small clouds of wool as it becomes yarn… in silence.
